The series consists of evidence gathered during the Task Force investigation of alleged Army dumping of radioactive materials into the Love Canal. The evidence was given in public hearings held by the Assembly Standing Committee on Environmental Conservation, in interviews conducted by Task Force investigators, and in interviews conducted by the Army during its own 1978 investigation into these allegations.

The 20-month investigation by the Assembly Task Force on Toxic Substances is an important chapter in the story of one of the worst environmental tragedies in United States history.
